Business Operations Specialist

The Business Operations Specialist reports directly to the CFO of the company and makes sure that the business operates smoothly, complementing the production shop with a strong backend operation that meets the needs of staff, reduces risks to the company, and guides the financial health of the business. The position works closely with all departments and works in conjunction with other managers, supervisors, and leads to foster good organizational health and a productive working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates closely with the CFO on the financial and organizational health of the company, providing information needed for decision making, elevating issues before they become a problem, and incorporating guidance from the CFO into the office operations
  • Keeps up strong communication lines with managers throughout the company, provides high quality customer service to other departments and staff, and works with managers to resolve any problems quickly
  • Ensures staff receive a timely response on any human resources or payroll problems or concerns by cooperating with the Human Resources and Accounting Departments
  • May supervise administrative staff including managing work assignments, time and attendance, overtime, leave, performance reviews, training, and other supervisory duties
  • Manages engagement with the company’s outside human resources services
  • Manages recruitment and retention efforts for the company including timely posting of jobs, working with managers to create a recruitment strategy for hard to fill positions, tracking feedback from exit interviews, and on-boarding new hires
  • Oversees the company’s response to workers compensation cases and provides regular status reports to senior management
  • Maintains the company’s policies, procedures, and related documents, recommending revisions as necessary for improved efficiency and compliance
  • In collaboration with the Accounting Department, coordinates the annual review and renewal of the company’s insurances
  • Manages the filing of compliance reporting such as ACA, EEO, prevailing wage, etc. in coordination with the Accounting Manager
  • Assists the CFO with oversight of Human Resources related priorities including:
    • Follows up with the HR Department to ensure staff respond properly to any injuries by providing guidance when an injury occurs, coordinating with insurance contacts or designated medical providers, documenting and reporting the incident as required, and training staff regularly on procedures before an injury occurs
    • Coordinates with the Operations Manager and HR staff to provide staff training on safety, management, health requirements, and other skills or information needed by staff or required by law
    • Cooperates with the Operations Manager and HR staff to ensure the company is meeting all OSHA requirements, posting of information for employees is current, and that updates to Labor Law are implemented timely
    • Supports managers with disciplinary actions, including providing advice on the process, advising on any relevant labor laws, and helping with difficult conversations
    • Offers an open door and counsels staff on issues of concern directing them to wellness benefits for personal issues or investigating any official complaints as needed
    • Works with HR to ensure supervisors are supported on performance review policies and procedures, working with senior management to set an annual schedule for reviews
  • Support the CFO with review of new production contracts and pre qualification documentation to ensure administrative information is fully provided to the Sales Team
  • Assists the CFO with overseeing the overall status of the office side of the business ensuring guests are greeted properly when they arrive, the phones are answered, the office space is safe and conditions allow for a productive work environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years experience in accounting, human resources, and management preferably in manufacturing, construction or related areas.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks across departments and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of internal controls and financial statements
  • Ability to review and interpret contracts, policies, and legal regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Position is located at Prime Tech Cabinets main office.
  • Occasional travel to construction job sites around Southern California may be required.

Safety and Human Resources Lead

The Safety and Human Resources Lead reports to the CFO and works in close consultation with the Accounting Manager and Operations Manager. The person in this role serves as the day to day connection between staff and their human resources needs. This position is critical to building a work environment that is positive, supportive, and focused on the welfare of all employees. The Safety and Human Resources Lead is the first line of customer service helping employees with onboarding, benefits adjustments, and other human resources items that come up. Working closely with managers in the machine shop and in the field, they are also responsible for managing the company’s safety training and injury response programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Operations Manager and Field Manager to develop and implement safety training plans
  • Fosters a collaborative environment where employees and supervisors work together to educate staff on safety best practices, identify safety concerns before there is a problem, and consistently follow safety guidelines
  • Works with the company’s insurance agent to recommend ways to reduce workers compensation risks and costs based on industry best practices and loss run report analysis
  • Keeps the company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) current and implemented across all departments
  • Supports with any workplace injuries by guiding employees through the process for getting medical treatment, follows OSHA reporting requirements, and advises the supervisor when following up with the employee or adjusting work tasks upon return
  • Helps the CFO with tracking and resolving Workers Compensation cases
  • Explains company policies to staff, answers HR process questions, directs staff to the appropriate manager for handling complaints, and generally assists with helping staff smoothly navigate any HR matters
  • Stays abreast of new labor laws and consults with the Accounting Manager and Operations Manager and the company’s human resource advisors to recommend options for the company to be in compliance
  • Keeps accurate and up to date employee files and company HR records
  • Keeps track of employee eligibility for benefits including probationary periods, leaves of absence, and change in life circumstances and cooperates with the Accounting Department to include any adjustments in payroll
  • Facilitates recruitment and onboarding by advising managers of the company’s procedures, posting jobs, preparing onboarding packets, supporting managers in reviewing company policies with new hires, explaining the benefit programs, and setting up new employee files
  • Processes staff offboarding and terminations including completing termination paperwork, assisting with exit interviews and equipment return, and communicating with the Accounting Department for timely final paychecks
  • Processes human resource related information requests such as employment verifications, insurance support orders, and background checks
  • Analyzes labor related sections in new project contracts and provides required due diligence documents
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience in human resources and safety programs preferably in manufacturing, construction or related areas
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • SHRM certificate or equivalent required
  • English language fluency required, Spanish proficiency strongly preferred
  • Knowledgeable in state and federal labor laws
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and difficult conversations with tact and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with safety best practice in the workplace for a manufacturing environment, OSHA requirements, and workers compensation claims processes
  • Ability to review and interpret contracts, policies, and legal regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Cabinet Drafter

The Cabinet Drafter is responsible for creating all cabinet drawings under the supervision of the Sales Team manager. This role is critical to creating cabinet designs that bring in new projects for the company and to translating customer needs to the production floor. Drafters work closely with the Sales Team, Operations Manager, and Department leads in the production shop to create high quality, well designed cabinets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates and modifies cabinet diagrams in Cabinet Vision based on take off from the architectural plans, specifications, calculations, and knowledge of PrimeTech Cabinet’s product options
  • Creates standard designs for apartment buildings with multiple layouts and custom designs for single family homes
  • Provides work instructions, technical drawings, cut lists and other production documents
  • Assists the Sales Team and other drafters with design and work planning duties such as preparing, reviewing and redrafting alongside the engineering team
  • Updates and maintains all part files, reference materials, and samples
  • Using Cabinet Vision, prepares drawings for all stages of design ranging from rough sketches to detailed work with precise dimensions and features for manufacture and installation
  • Provides material and parts lists for bidding estimates, purchasing inventory, and manufacturing material use planning
  • Recommends cabinet layouts, features, and designs that appeal to clients and minimize production costs
  • Works with engineers, architects, manufacturers, and installers to incorporate revisions throughout the duration of the project
  • Ensures final designs are compliant with building regulations
  • Identifies and communicates potential design problems to the rest of the team
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year experience drafting in manufacturing, construction or related areas
  • At least 1 year of experience working with cabinet design preferred
  • Experience with design software required, Cabinet Vision experience highly preferred
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • Knowledge of material and machinery tooling
  • Experience with screen to machine preferred
  • Knowledge of construction housing building regulations and accessibility codes
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks across departments and meet deadlines
  • Ability to review and interpret architectural drawings, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot problems

Estimator

The Estimator reports to the Production Sales and Drafting Manager and is responsible for evaluating the cost of cabinetry projects and building bids for new projects. This position is at the core of the company’s initial interactions with customers and essential for obtaining new orders that are both profitable for the company and valuable for the customer. The position works closely with the sales team and the drafting team to accurately price bids, create options that highlight our competitive advantage, and bring in new sales orders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reads architectural plans and specifications for multi-unit housing construction and creates project estimates based on drawing takeoff
  • Develops estimates for multiple cabinet finish levels for projects incorporating cost of materials, labor, overhead, and profit margin
  • Provides suggestions to reduce costs and recommendations for optional add-on features to boost sales and increase Prime Tech’s profit margin
  • Maintains strong knowledge and understanding of unit costs and production rates for various cabinet products and installation requirements
  • Collaborates with internal drafting, manufacturing, and sales staff, as well as client engineers to ensure estimates are accurate and complete and that handoff to production for all successful bids goes smoothly
  • Keeps project records of estimates, costs, and customer specifications through multiple rounds of revisions
  • Tracks status of all projects through the bidding process including deadlines for submissions, project award dates, and work products that need to be prepared at each stage
  • Supports the Sales Team in reaching out to customers during the bidding cycle and responding to customer inquiries
  • Assists the Sales Team in developing bidding strategies that increase the percentage of successful bids
  • Provides quality customer service throughout the bidding process
  • Attends pre-bid and pre-construction meetings

  • Knowledge of costing and bidding processes
  • Ability to review and interpret requests for quotes, project plans, specifications, and other detailed engineering and budget documents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred

Delivery Driver – Loader/Unloader

The Driver/Loader position makes sure Prime Tech’s cabinets reach the customers on time and in good quality. Their role is to ensure proper loading of cabinets into trucks at the factory, deliver items to the customer job site, and unload them in the proper location.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates company box trucks in a professional, safe, and courteous manner
  • Helps load and unload trucks for deliveries including lifting cabinets, materials, and components and following loading procedures
  • Reads plans and inventory sheets to determine what is needed and ensures everything is loaded prior to leaving the facility
  • Identifies any special shipping/transit requirements such as use of cleats, ropes, tie-downs, etc.
  • Delivers merchandise to the job site on time following any management notes on the driving route and departure times
  • Unloads cabinets at the job site and, if needed, coordinates with the foreman or construction managers on site to share elevators and access paths with other subcontractors
  • Completes required paperwork for each delivery
  • Performs daily maintenance checks on vehicles and reports any malfunctions to management
  • Ensures delivery vehicles are clean and in good working condition
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must have a Driver’s License (Class C) and clean driving record
  • Minimum of 2 year experience as a delivery driver
  • Must be able to operate 16’ box truck safely and comfortably
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be a motivated team player who is ready to work

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is not required, but helpful

General Laborer – Manufacturing

We are seeking individuals interested in working in the cabinet industry.

The main function of this role will be to support our labor force in one of the following departments: Mill, Assembly, Hinge, Sanding, or other.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Under the general direction of our department supervisors and plant managers, you will be responsible for completing your assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • All safety protocols must be followed at all times
  • We are looking for a team player who is ready to join a growing, diverse team

Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for a period of 6 – 8 hours.
    Ability to lift from 50 lbs. (Over 50 lbs. with co-worker)
  • Able to climb stairs
  • Must be flexible with overtime and weekend work
  • Woodworking or cabinetry experience is a plus
  • Able to work from 5:30 am to 2:00 p.m. in Santa Ana
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
  • Positive attitude

  • Must be reliable and professional

Job Type:

  • Our mill workers start at 5:30am and finish at 2:00pm Monday through Friday
  • Occasionally there is overtime available for either an extra hour in the day or on Saturdays
  • Pay is $14-$16/hour, depending on experience
